HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER BY DAY,
VISUAL STORYTELLER BY NIGHT.
For as long as I can remember, I always wanted to tell stories. As a kid I’d choose reading books over playing outside. In high school I joined the school paper and really came to enjoy telling the stories of others rather than creating my own (although my stories at the time were limited to very bad Harry Potter fan fiction). Through my education, I learned that people could not only be moved by stories, but by striking photography and beautiful typography. It has been my goal ever since to marry storytelling and design in my work.
After a long and winding road professionally and personally, I got the opportunity in 2020 to go back to my high school alma mater to teach students digital design and photography. Many thought it was crazy to run into education as so many were leaving due to the pandemic. Five years later, it continues to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I’m so excited to use my experience and passion for design, photography and storytelling in the classroom to teach kids about the opportunities this industry offers.
When I’m not creatively molding the minds of America’s youth, catch me doing one (or likely all) of these things:
Polkaing in parades
Hanging out with my dog, Hopper
Working on one of my many unfinished crochet projects
Perpetually waiting for my Hogwarts letter
Assistant coaching my school’s golf teams (asst. coach of snacks and moral support)
